We are running a health campaign on Facebook and fittingly named it, #itsinyourhands. In this campaign we highlight the choices and power we have as consumers to take charge of our health and wellbeing. We believe that knowledge and understanding empowers us to make the right choices for us and puts our future in our own hands.

We have covered some areas we felt important for general health, but this is by no means a one size fits all journey. Every person will relate to the world around them differently and will have to make choices for better health that fit them personally.

The great outdoors

We all know that getting outdoors is good for us. But do you do it enough? Are you aware of the multiple benefits? Improved brain function, increased Vitamin D intake, weight loss, exercise, motivation, stress reduction and increased happiness – these are some of the benefits you’ll gain by making time to be out and about. It’s not called the great outdoors for nothing.

Get your body moving

Research related to exercise over the past decade has been very clear and consistent — the more we exercise the lower our risk of nearly all diseases. But you don’t have to make it a grueling workout – simple exercises like walking and swimming done regularly provides excellent health benefits. Simply put: The more we move, the more we improve.

You are what you eat

Eat healthy food. This is one bit of advice you should not be filtering out! Our diet is the key to our overall health and there are countless stories of people changing their lives completely, from reversing diseases to radical changes in how your body and mind functions. We really are what we eat! ‪‬

Complementary medicine

Conventional modern medicine is one of the greatest advances of society. But are we getting any healthier? And are we relying on medicine too much as the quick fix. We are now seeing a natural medicine revolution where people are taking charge of their own health and approaching health care holistically. Think twice before popping your next pill. Ask yourself; is there an alternative?

When it comes to skin conditions and pain, there are excellent natural alternatives too. Our Down to Earth range of products cares for the whole family through the healing goodness of herbal ointments.

Laughter is the best medicine

Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain and conflict. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Humour lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused and alert. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free and easy to use. Have a laugh as often as you can.

Healthy relationships

What keeps us happy and healthy as we go through life? A 75-year-old study on adult development reveals the secret to true happiness and satisfaction: Good relationships keep us healthy and happy. The quality of our relationships surpasses fame, money and any form of possessions. Give your relationships the attention it deserves.

Sleeping is time well spent

Sleep is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. We’re always on the lookout for ways to transform our lives, but sometimes we forget that — along with diet and exercise — there’s another miracle drug within our control: sleep. There are so many multiple benefits of getting sufficient sleep, which we inevitably take for granted. Our advice is to leave enough time in your daily routine to get enough sleep.

Finding balance

One thing about living in this crazy, modern world is that it is increasingly difficult to find that happy middle ground. i.e. balance! Whether it’s extreme dieting, extreme exercising, extreme indulgence, extreme work, or extreme play – we seem to be progressing into more and more extremes. Finding the reasonable middle ground (some balance) is a sensible solution to support a healthy mind and body!
